Leather jackets are rugged and versatile, long-lasting in terms of material but the stylish garment needs to be carefully cleaned and stored. All leather garments must be hung on hangars to maintain their shape. However, do not enclose leather jackets in plastic cases or else they will become dry. Also, avoid its exposure to direct sunlight.

You should never spray perfume or any kind of hairspray on leather apparel as it can damage it. When damp, let the garment dry naturally and a conditioner might be used to restore flexibility. Make sure that there is no greasy residue left from the lubricating oils used when cleaning the jacket. If any residue is left, it will attract bacteria that will destroy your jacket from inside.

If you use moisture barriers, you will be able to protect the leather jacket from rain or other forms of moisture that tends to take away it sheen. When you are investing in a leather jacket, you must remember that it is a unique and beautiful piece and it will need special attention.
