Owning and riding a motorcycle is one of the most thrilling things in life. You are out and open to the feel of the wind rushing at you. But unlike a driving a car and getting in an accident and your car may get a little banged up, a motorcycle is way different. Once you go down on a motorcycle, even at a slow speed, you better have some protective gear on. The required piece of safety gear by law is of course a motorcycle helmet but the are many other ways you can be injured in the event of an accident. Road rash is the most common and can cause severe injury and pain. This can be reduced or avoided by simple wearing protective gear. Some of the gear that will help you are gloves, jacket, chaps or other protective pants, and even gear you wear over your back to help protect your spine. http://www.idealhere.com

The first piece of gear you already have if you ride a motorcycle but may want to reconsider is your helmet. Many people get to concerned with looks and choose the wrong type of helmet. It is always fun to have your own unique style but not at the cost of your safety. It does however depend on the style of riding you do. If you do a lot of aggressive sport riding then it is probably not the best to have a half face or German helmet, because there is more likelihood you will go down and they won’t provide they type of protection you need. http://www.idealhere.com/wholesale-Motoring_c1

If you ride during the winter or on cold days then you most likely already have gloves to keep your hands warm but these are a vital part of your gear and if they don’t keep your hands as warm as possible and your fingers start to get stiff then it could disastrous if you can’t respond in time. It may seem over the top but having cold fingers can effect how well you grip and your ability to squeeze your brakes and clutch. If you haven’t been able to find a pair of gloves that keep your hands warm then consider getting heated gloves or heated hand grips. You also want to have gloves that have some sort of protection on the knuckles as that is a part of your hands that could get road rash easily. Most gloves will have a hard material or plastic guarding the areas that could be damaged.

There are many other types of motorcycle riding gear available but one of the last I will discuss and also very important is a good quality, protective motorcycle jacket. Any leather jacket won’t always protect you if you go down. If you visit any motorcycle shops or apparel retailers you will see they have many options to choose from and the material that the motorcycle jackets are made of is a lot more durable and sturdy. They often have thicker material or plastic inserts on the shoulder and elbow region since those are the most likely areas of your body that will hit the ground. If you are a first time bike owner you probably didn’t understand the deep love you’d have your bike. Although, undoubtedly it was love at first sight, it wasn’t quite apparent to you just how much you cared. It wasn’t even the moment you first straddled your bike that you truly comprehended the shear awe you’d have for your bike. Not until you rode it around the block for the first time did you realize just how important the piece of machinery that is between your legs is to you. It wasn’t until then that it became clear to you that you had found your first true love. And from that moment on you vowed to protect and care for your bike like you have never protected or cared for anything else in your entire life. As soon as you got home from your first 500 mile road trip, you came home, you cleaned your bike, and you immediately went online to look at motorcycle covers.

You also realized right then you were never going to separate from your bike for more time that was necessary, and daydreamed about taking trips with just you and your bike. Knowing that you are going to do everything but shower and sleep on your bike you also decide you are going to need some motorcycle saddlebags for your bike. You want to make your adventures as easy as possible, and let’s face it, the prospect of having to ride with a heavy back pack on doesn’t sound too fun. In your search for quality, yet affordable gear for your bike, you should take a moment and visit leatherup.com. At leatherup.com you will find all the stuff you need to fill your saddlebags. For long trips it is always wise to bring along rain gear, and of course extra clothing. If you pack right, you can be on the road for days at a time with not a care in the world except for where you going to stop to use the restroom.

Of course now that you’ve found all the gear for road trips, you may find it wise to have a tank bag so you have convenient and easy access to things you use most often for when you are just heading to work or out for an afternoon ride. Tank bags come in handy when you don’t want your pockets encumbered with little things that jab your legs.

Hi, I am Tegan Dawn, and as a motorcycle enthusiast myself, I make sure my bike is always taken care of. Motorcycle covers add great protection from the outside elements if you don?t have the luxury of a garage. When I ride, I like to be free of anything that feels like it will slow me down, so I have different tank Bags for my different trips; smaller ones for my in town excursions and a larger one for when I go on a ride and pack my lunch.

Imagine for a moment, that you are flying along a road out on your yearly motorcycle road trip. You have 250 miles to go before you stop for the night, and you see a thunderstorm rolling in. As it looms closer you begin to wonder what to do. A contributing factor in all of this is that you forgot to pack your rain gear. Should you pull over and wait out the storm? Or ride on through to your next stop, and tough it out. You decide to for the latter, and end up spending the rest of your trip miserable, because you have gotten a cold mixed with a sinus infection. If only you had packed your motorcycle rain gear.

The miracles of modern textiles could have saved you the trouble and hassle of a cold. Quality motorcycle rain suits are made from an advanced waterproof technology, 600 Denier nylon. They will have several pockets with full enclosed flaps and Velcro, and even an inner pocket to keep your wallet nice and dry.

With numerous styles and colors to choose from, you can find one that matches your tastes, and still have a comfortable fit. You can purchase a rain suit in either a one piece style or two piece style. The legs should have Velcro and zippers to accommodate the wearing of boots, and the sleeves should have Velcro and zippers as well to help facilitate the wearing of a leather jacket. There should also be a durable heat resistant inner leg lining to protect the rain suit from becoming melted due to high engine and exhaust temperatures. Finding a motorcycle rain suit that has reflective material is also important. This helps to ensure that other drivers see you in bad weather.

When riding in the rain remember to take it slower than normal. Try to keep the turns to a minimum, as you only have two wheels touching the ground, and a condition called hydroplaning can occur very much easier than in a passenger vehicle. Hydroplaning occurs when the water underneath a tire causes the tire to actually float on the water, causing the tire to loose traction and stability. Be sure to observe the amount of rain on the road, as even a couple of inches of rain can cause hydroplaning.

Finally when you arrive at your destination, be sure to treat all of your leather products with a good polish and leather preserver like, Skidmore’s Biker Motorcycle Edition Leather Cream that helps preserve and restore a soft durable quality to the leather. The best time to do this actually is after every rainy ride, or at least once a month.

Whatever the weather that you are riding in, always be sure to stay safe, and have fun. The art of motorcycle riding can be dangerous, but you can help keep it safe if you follow the rules of the road. Be sure to help out your fellow bikers, and always wear head protection.
